Bravo, Nole!

I was elated. The boys played an unbelievably intensed match, despite the annoying fact that Channel 5 unexpectedly broadcasted X2 in the middle of the live match, during the third set after Jo-Wilfred Tsonga's revengeful smash to Novak Djokovic's in the previous set, and continued the delayed telecast at 10pm.

Deuces after deuces with each player claiming advantages countless times, Djokovic's hamstring strain in the third set and finally fighting his injury to claim his first Australian Grand Slam men's singles title in best of five (4-6 6-4 6-3 7-6 (7-2)). I admire Tsonga's risk taking attitude in his cross-court tactics. I enjoyed the match throughout and Djoker's amusing speech when he jokingly forgave the crowd for favouring Tsonga for the title - "I still love you guys, don't worry".

I was looking forward to some of his notable impersonations (Nadal, Roddick, Federer) after the match... but it didn't happen.

And I love the boys' Adidas Tennis Edge Tee...

As for the women's finals, I do not doubt Sharapova's powerful dominating serves and baseline strokes winning her way through to the title but I believed her annoying grunts played a part in putting her opponent in a mentally agitated state ;)

Allez Tsonga! (aka float like a butterfly, sting like a bee!). It was good to see a slugfest at the Aust Open finals.

But I predict Fed-Ex to win 3 (yes THREE!) grandslams this year.

And a word on Maria.. whose primal screams are surely matched by Poor Things' primate grunts. ;)
