The Cool Alchemist

Another good one from Paulo Coelho. It is interestingly imaginative, simple and inspiring. It tells a tale of a shepherd boy from Andalusia and his devotion of time and energy to literally realise his dreams, and how the universe conspires to help him achieve it. During his journey, he met many spiritual messengers that comes in a form of a crystal merchant, camel driver, etc.

A few simple thoughts from the book...
  • We always fail to notice, but often, it is the simple things in life that are the most extraordinary.

  • We are often trapped in the illusion of the world's biggest lie - our lives to be controlled by fate after reaching a point in which we think we have lost control of it. We are responsible for all our actions through our decisions.

  • Goals should be planned flexibly, with mini milestones, and life is too short to be planned comprehensively and absolutely.

The next furthest thing everyone should be planning is dinner *grin*
